Andre Cronje, CEO of Fantom, will focus on the expansion of the dApp ecosystem in 2023
The Fantom co-founder Andre Cronje outlined the protocol’s roadmap for 2023.
- Gas monetization and subsidies will be the protocol’s main strategies for expanding its dApp ecosystem.
- Fantom Foundation Ltd. has appointed Cronje to its board of directors.
- Previously, the protocol pledged to bring down its token burn rate to encourage dApp development.
Fantom to incentivize builders with gas monetization and subsidies
The goal for next year is to provide the most high-throughput blockchain for all decentralized activities in order to create a single, secure settlement layer. Cronje wrote the foundation team about this goal in a letter. The goal is to improve developers’ tools, integration, and ease of use, rather than focusing on specific user verticals such as DeFi, NFT, gameFi, and exchanges.
As part of Cronje’s 12-month strategic plan, he has outlined several key focus areas. Additionally, gas monetization will allow dApps to share revenue based on the gas used in transactions, similar to how YouTube and Twitch creators earn money. By implementing gas subsidies, dApps will be able to interact without having to pay gas fees themselves, making onboarding simpler and more seamless.
Account abstraction, which will eliminate the distinction between contract and EOA accounts, is another key focus for the Fantom Foundation. Contracts will be able to initiate transactions and pay for gas under this system, while EOAs will simply serve as authorities authorized to instruct wallets to take certain actions.
This will make dApps more user-friendly and enable social recovery options like email and password authentication.
