Polkadot Breaks Records With Over 600,000 Active Addresses: Data

The Polkadot blockchain ecosystem boasts a total of over 248,000 active addresses, with Moonbeam contributing over 240,000.

A record-breaking number of active addresses on the Polkadot blockchain and other metrics indicate that Polkadot is humming with activity.

According to the most recent data from ‘Parity Data,’ Polkadot has over 605,200 active addresses. Nearly half of them, or 248,000 out of 605,000, are linked to Moonbeam, the cross-chain smart contract platform that led the charts, followed by 191,000 addresses created directly on Polkadot.

  • The decentralized IoT network ‘Nodle’ lags after with 66,063 active addresses, followed by Polkadot’s top parachain protocol Astar and decentralized liquid staking protocol Bifrost with 24,262 and 16,907, respectively.
  • Acala followed with 15,586 and Manta with 14,178, respectively, to take sixth and seventh place in terms of top active addresses.
  • Commenting on the milestone, Polkadot tweeted,

“Activity in the Polkadot ecosystem is increasing, with many apps using dedicated blockspace to reduce network spam. Polkadot is about flexibility without sacrificing resilience. Ultimately, this benefits the users.

  • Furthermore, the number of unique accounts with non-zero balances is continuously increasing, reaching 5.59 million by the end of March, up from 5.53 million at the end of February.
  • Despite the bustling activity, overall network transactions remain relatively low.
  • Polkadot had 11.58 million monthly transactions in March, up somewhat from 10.8 million in April but much down from the 31.78 million transactions logged in December 2023.
  • Meanwhile, Polkadot’s native DOT token had a minor comeback with its peer altcoins. DOT went up over 5% in the last 24 hours and is now trading at $9.03.
  • Last month, Palo Alto startup capital firm Electric Capital stated that DOT is a cryptocurrency to watch in the coming cycle.
