Metaplanet adds 150 Bitcoin (BTC) to its holdings after bond issuance

Japan’s Metaplanet just purchased 150 BTC, boosting its total Bitcoin holdings to 3,200 BTC. The purchase followed the firm’s ¥2 billion ordinary bond issuance to EVO FUND. The Japanese investment business recently purchased 150 BTC (btc-0.16%) at an average price of ¥12.5 million ($83,611) per Bitcoin.

 The firm noted that acquiring Bitcoin is part of its ongoing efforts to grow its Bitcoin Treasury Operations. 

At press time, the company’s Bitcoin investments totalled 3,200 BTC, equivalent to more than $266 million at current market rates.

According to crypto.news, Bitcoin has decreased by 0.24% in the last 24 hours of trade. Bitcoin is presently trading at $83,323. The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation has increased by 3.5% over the last week. Despite this, its monthly performance has seen a negative trend, with BTC down 14% in the last month. 

According to the announcement, Metaplanet’s BTC yield (the amount of Bitcoin held per share) increased by 309.8% in Q4 2024. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2025, from January 1 to March 18, Metaplanet increased from 53.2% to 60.8%, compared to the prior purchase on March 12. 

Metaplanet sold ¥2 billion in ordinary bonds to EVO FUND today, marking the Japanese firm’s ninth issuance overall. According to the document, the firm intends to utilise the proceeds from the bond offering to buy more Bitcoin. Despite the offering, Metaplanet’s shares slid 0.5% to ¥4,030, according to Google Finance. 

Metaplanet has been gradually acquiring more bitcoin since April 2024, when it began its own Bitcoin Treasury Operations. Known as the “Asian Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy),” the Japanese corporation has gradually increased its Bitcoin holdings. Metaplanet’s stock price has climbed by more than 3,000% since it began purchasing Bitcoin in April of 2024.
